Recreating a native habitat has been a dream of mine since I was about 18. It only took me 20 years, but I finally have two acres of land in the country with which to work (and play). My goal is to document the improvements I make to the property: restoring habitat & attracting birds and butterflies in addition to other wildlife.
Just the back yard!? Nah, I want the front and side yards landscaped in natives too.

First of Many More
With the warm weather, I've not noticed much bird activity where I've been feeding the birds. I did bring in some branches closer to the house for them to perch on (and give me a better chance of a good photo.
The other day, I spotted some a chickadee, nuthatch, titmouse, and junco coming for the black oil sunflower seeds I've been putting out. I took several pictures through the window, but only ended up with one good one of the titmouse (above).
Hopefully this is only the first of many more photos. :)

Well, it is a good one! Is that a sycamore branch?
Thank you! :)
Yes, it is a sycamore branch. Over the summer a road crew came by and trimmed/cut tree branches growing over the road. I asked them to leave some unchipped for me...and even got a load of woodchips out of it! :) I used a branch or two for perches closer to the window. (I don't have any trees or shrubs near the house in the back.)
