Recreating a native habitat has been a dream of mine since I was about 18. It only took me 20 years, but I finally have two acres of land in the country with which to work (and play). My goal is to document the improvements I make to the property: restoring habitat & attracting birds and butterflies in addition to other wildlife.
Just the back yard!? Nah, I want the front and side yards landscaped in natives too.
Lots of bird watching over break for you - awesome photos! I put out some oranges hoping to see some action but none yet. I had to stop feeding the birds a couple years ago because a black bear would not stay away.
Here's my little effort: http://save-reuse-share.blogspot.com/
Hiya, Stacie! Thanks for the comment and the compliment.
Hopefully something will come for your oranges soon. Are you trying for a Baltimore oriole?
We had a black bear come the first year we were here...but we were feeding over the summer...we stopped doing that and haven't seen one since. It was cool to see--from inside the house. I got a couple of pictures of it too.
