Just the back yard!? Nah, I want the front and side yards landscaped in natives too.

Isn't milkweed wonderful?

I know the monarch larvae seem to think so! ;) Yes, I enjoy them...not only do they provide flowers in the summer, butterflies and caterpillars, but also some beauty and interest in the winter. Makes me wonder...why would anyone be satisfied with just a mowed lawn!?

I was shooting almost these same pictures last week!

The asters look good, the hop hornbeam spectacular, But I can't ever seem to get a pic of the "hops" that does them justice...

Impressive that you still have butterfly-weed seeds to shoot... I shoot mine, and then plant them before the seeds all blow away.

Thanks, stone. Believe it or not, they are still hanging on almost a month later! It is only one plant that still has them...the others all have empty pods.

I guess I should label my pictures. There are none of the hop hornbeam...what you are seeing is hazelnut catkins.

I'm happy to have winter interest, but (despite the unusually warm and nearly snow-less winter) I'm ready for some spring interest soon. :)
