Nothing says September to me like asters. New England aster is one of my favorites.
It is hard to believe that the month is at an end. It occurred to me yesterday that I have yet to post anything this month. In my mind, past years I posted tons of photos of pollinators coming to the fall blooms...so I was surprised to see that one post in this month is pretty normal for me. Looking back, I found that the most I've had in the past two years were two!

Thank you for your kind compliment, saying that I'd captured the month well in photos--especially the asters. I have a LOT more photos of a lot more aster species. I must be up to five or more by now. :)
Sorry to hear that you don't have any asters. I'm assuming you have yet to add them...or do they not grow that far south?
What is the fringed blossom? (Or is it a leaf?)It's lovely.
Rebecca, I'm notorious for not labeling what I post! I really have to take the time to do so--even when it means looking up the botanical name.
The picture that I think you are referring to is a hazelnut. The hazelnut develops inside of the fringed outer casing.
